Hot and Dry Desert
Soil in the hot and dry desert is very course textured
Shallow and rocky or gravely
Good drainage, beacause of this, there is no surface water.
The soil here has a very high pH because of the alkalinity.

Cold Desert
The soil in the cold desert is heavy.
Also very silty and salty.
Drainage is good.
Most of the salt has been leached out.
Contains alluvial fans where soil is relativly pourous
